Following the success of Rip Current Heroes, our next mission was to bring the life-saving message of rip current awareness to the United States. Partnering with Curiosity Stream—America’s leading streaming service for factual programming—we produced Escaping Rip Currents, a fast-paced, emotionally powerful documentary designed to inform, inspire, and protect.
This short-form feature built on the momentum of Rip Current Heroes and introduced Dr. Rob Brander’s insights to a U.S. audience. By combining real-life rip incidents with accessible science and expert commentary, the documentary offered a clear, memorable guide to spotting and escaping rip currents.
Escaping Rip Currents quickly struck a chord. It became one of Curiosity Stream’s standout safety specials, resonating with viewers across the country and setting the stage for a larger, more comprehensive film that would follow in its wake.
